If anybody has access to one of these transmissions can you please o please measure how the distance between the bellhousing (side that touches motor) and the shifter area?

The dimension that you are looking for is 29.72" (755mm). that is front surface of bellhousing to center of shifter.

no problem, if you need it to be longer or shorter then that you can modify the shifter extension housing to move the shifter forwards or backwards. here is a link that shows what I am talking about. this guy needed to move it forward to fit into a MA70 Supra chassis.
