Hey guys, we're currently working on a single turbo 1UZ powered S14. We've fabricated custom log style manifolds coming around the front to merge into a T70 Magnum turbo. Right now I'm trying to find out the best location for the o2 sensors. Any advice and examples would be appreciated! Thanks.

Here's the current setup

Probably about 300 mm from the turbine outlet . I have mine mounted there and have excellent response from it as well as good heating cycles from start up..Using the Innovate setup and feeding the output to the ViPEC unit as well..

I have on the other hand gone for equal length tubing to the single TO4-z Turbo to maintain an acceptable audible sound from the tail pipe. Unequal sounds too Subar`ish for me..

What gearbox you running here ??

My car..

Currently its mated up to a Nissan 5spd from a KA24 engine. The bellhousing adapter I'm using is dual drilled for both the KA 5spd as well as the 350z 6spd, so I'll probably be swapping to that in the future

sbautoworks: have you got any more pics? How low is the sump to the ground?

Have you changed the cams?

I'm just about to start the same conversion :)

i take it you bought the flange from ebay.com, if so its shit. when you bolt up the 350z box the clutch doesnt even engage. you need to mill some off the thickness of the plate an about 10mm off the gearbox

No I actually bought it directly from the guy in Florida (I think it might be the same stuff though). I've actually talked directly with him a good bit and was already aware of the need to machine the back of the gearbox and plate for it engage properly. Thanks for the heads up though.

Yeah he failed to mention that when i bought it, told me it was a direct fit !
plus charged me 260 dollars for shipping when i only cost him 70 !
I re-engineered it anyway, my version uses countersunk bolts so its already 9mm thinner, and with 10mm off the bellhousing ive got complete engagement even on a twin plate clutch :)

Still haven't done the downpipe yet, the project has been going in on/off chunks lately, did get the shell and chassis prep finished and painted, and the motor cleaned up as much as it's going to be for now. Took the upper/lower intake off, blasted, and painted. Installed the 7M 315 injectors, new valve cover gaskets, made custom egr block off plates, new timing belt, and some other stuff.

There's a bunch more build pics here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.319203894807078.71121.169260443134758&type=3

I wish I could get my 1uz to sit that low. Mine hits the steering rack :(

Looks a good build tho I like the red body and matching engine :)

Have you made your own mounts for the motor? What we did was set the motor over into the engine bay, and place bits of aluminum flat stock between the oil pan and steering rack to get the clearance and spacing we needed. From there it was just leveling and measuring and making some pretty basic solid mounts to get it fastened. Also thanks for the compliments!

Yeah I made my own but I have changed them 3 times I have now built a second set that use a custom mount between the front cross member and stock ls400 lexus mount swaped left to right and vice versa just to play with the height.

I'm don't know what bell housing/box you used but I have the R154 with 1uz bell housing which is causing the problem. when the engine+box is in the bell housing is rather hitting the tunnel or when you lower the engine the bottom of the block sits on the steering rack. In the uk it breaks the motorsport rules to cut the firewall/tunnel so I'm a little stuck with it atm. is your car a LHD SR20 s14?

Well I'm in the US so our cars came with the ka24de instead of the sr but yes the car is LHD. The transmission tunnel has been beat in some previously from a ls1 fitted in. The adapter plate I'm using utilizes the factory Nissan 5spd... Also can't modify firewalls here to comply with most drift series' rules

I wonder if the SR cross member/rack is the same as the KA.

I think Its just going to take a big hammer to the tunnel when I get some free time :)

yup, crossmembers are the same.
if you can get access to a 7x aircraft rivet gun they are great for bashing tunnels in :)
