I found out the other day that a Hilux Radiator is the perfect size for my Hot rod with a 1uzfe. Can anyone who has done a hilux please answer my following questions.

Do you guy's use the standard radiators when doing hilux conversions? Do you have any cooling problems? What model hilux did you convert?

In other words would a Hilux radiator work in my Hot rod with a 1uzfe? and if so what model should I use.

Thanks

Daniel

50% of my 1uz wire ups get hot

they dont boil but they get hot

y would u use a hlux rad in a hot rod

they outlets would nt match a 1uz anyway

id get a custom alloy one made for yr rod
theyre expensive but worth it

The reason I'm considering a Hilux radiator is due to cost. Plus it fits nicely in the space I have. I also thought that because I have an open engine bay that I could get away with a smallish radiator.

Have any of your installs used the later model Alloy hilux radiators, as they don't cost much more.

Do you know where I could get an aluminium radiator core from? I could get the tanks made for nothing.

yes one guy flew me to prth to do a job for him
he used a diesel alloy radiator from a 97 ish hilux

his hilux was 2001 i think

they said it had no cooling probs

what year is yrs

my 92 hilux has bugger all room

if u plan on air con it makes it worse

i have a custom alloy rad with 2 25mm cores and it still gets over 100 on very hot days

u need capacity and air flow

air flow is more important thou

hilux front end has bugger all air flow

if u have a big bumper or bull bar then its even worse

i speak to many people how try this and that and still have probs

i dont know if theres a signle cure that will solve every hilux

they all have minor differences and problems

Thanks for your replies. I don't have a hilux I'm building a Hotrod. a hilux radiator is the right size to fit the space I have. From what you have said I think it will work for me as the radiator will be completly open to air flow from the front (No bumber bar or grill, etc) and the engine bay is open so the hot air can easily escape. I also don't have air con.

Thanks for the info.

Cheers

Daniel

I've used a FJ40 LandCrusier radiator in hilux conversion. 4-core and perfect size, you just got to modify the end tanks
