has anyone tried removing the belt driven fan and replacing it with an additional electric fan?
would you get enough cooling and what temp should it be engaged

I have and so has Lex....I swapped in a dual electric fan and got nice results and the dual fans cool just fine but make a little more noise than stock on my SC400.

I have the 1UZ and I installed a flex-a-lite dual electric fan in an SC400 and not a crown, however my setup works great....No overheating what so ever..

Deleting the hydro pump is your main concern and then installing a new idler will be your biggest challenge, unless you decide to run a shorter serp belt. Check out the fan threads on this forum using the search function and you will get some ideas....Good luck..
