As title suggests I'm having a problem with my auto tranny. It has the A343F auto in it which I believe to be of the A340/A341 famaily. Problem is it goes from first to second but then jumps straight to third. It will hold second if you use selector manualy but in drive it will change to third almost as soon as it grabs second.
The auto is the original surf gearbox mounted to the 1uzfe. Any ideas would be appreciated. Cheers

if u did a search there is sheitloads of info regarding using the surf box
with the 1uz
which ever way u go there is pros and cons
and im guessing u did it the worst way
best way but fidly is to use 1uz auto and mate it to surf transfer

anyway if your box also doesnt kick down and if it originall was a 2lt then yr fkt
no real easy way round it if u want the auto to drive like an auto

if it was a v6 then someone on here has info how to get it working correct
if this is the case u need to decide how badly u want an auto

I bought the surf a couple of months ago with conversion all ready in it. I was told that I needed to change the box out for a V8 one.
I was searching for a lexus box but spoke with Mike at MV Automaics in South Australia and he said they are all the same box apart from small changes ( input shaft and 1st gear ratio), and there was no advantage of swaping the A343 to a A340 or A341 as all internals are the same.
It was the 2.4TD surf originaly and I have no probs with it down changing or kicking down just the second gear prob.
The A343 auto came out in
Surf (some models not all)
Landcruiser
Prado
and Lexus LX470 (4.7L V8)
 
ok so atleast most fo wiring should be ok if its kicking down

what i have found is if it chnages gears to ealry its a speed sensor problem
but it would change gears to soon in all gears
but 1st to 2nd is so short anyway so hard to say if problem is in 1st to 2nd shift aswell
maybe u can slow the speed signal down to the ecu that controls the auto
do u know if its the surf ecu that controils the auto or the 1uz ecu

a surf auto does not have one of the speed sensors that the 1uz ecu needs
so if the 1uz ecu controls the auto then u cant use a surf box and get it working perfectly

surf autos and 1uzs open up a pandoras box
there is afew ways to do things each have good and bad points
without looking at car its hard to say which way is going to be right
make sure its not mechanical first which i think its not

if u have alot of cash then maybe ring venom hehhheeh he loves this sheit hehehehe

no probs
before i wire up any surf
i spend half an hour explaining the problems they will encounter
they are nice inside but the rest fo the surf i recon is a pain in the buttt when it comes to conversions
ive never had one turn out perfect like a std car
unless it a manual box
 
I have a V8 auto box here in Brisbane, Ill sell you for $100 if you think it can get you running. I even shortened the output shaft to put the surf transfer onto it, I got a blown surf box here too.
