thinking of turboing my uz...(within the next month)

need advice...this is a budget jobby.no flash workshop,no unlimited funds...

i have a box of good turbos, some big some small, intercooler will be fitted(big as i can afford)

i want low end torque rather than top end power (i know a supercarger would be best, but thats not gonna happen yet)

1 largish or 2 small? what do you use??if i have to get one/two as the ones i have turn out to not be suitable then they will come from ebay, and proberly be ex diesel.(keep cost down)

so what are you using? oh..STANDARD good engine,no mods, stock ecu max 8psi???

thanks

Poverty pac and reliable good turbo's .. The Master Power brand takes some beating.. MPT 61 P trim .84 / .96 A.R
Or MPT61 .84
Or MPT70 P trim .84 or 1.00 A.R..
Master power are shaft bearing and oil cooled..
Garrett ? The GT3540 / GT53R takes some beating on a 4.0 ..
Or T04Z with .84 being T4 flange..
The smaller Borg Warner [kkk] turbo's go well also..
S375 or smaller, spool early for a big turbo..
The older T88 go well on std engine also..
The main part is to have turbine big enough so it doesn't choke exhaust at higher rpm..
You cannot fit a 350 / 400 h.p turbo to a 4.0 engine, thinking that's all the power you want to make.. The power these turbo's are rated at is there MAX flow numbers.. safe to say ?? around 1/3 max power well work...
700 / 800 h.p turbo will work fine..
Two turbo's off a WRX or decent 2.0 SR20t will work fine also..

what about..a pair of ex mr2 turbo's..ie ct26...(cheap and plentilul here)

or indeed ct20 (ex surf)

Imo one off std 3 ltr engines X's two..
Manufacturer's rend to fit smaller turbo's..
A 4.0 has enough low end torque...

to save time (i need this truck on the road) have made the manifolds, decided to go n/a for now..HOWEVER they exit very conveniently under the engine with loads of space and clearence to fit a single..today i shall make a sytem up to connect manifolds to a turbo..
am aware i will need scavage pump, but as also right in middle of sump moding now is the time to do it!i have 2 new largish turbos, will dig them out and post info on here to see if others/you think they are suitable.(would be nice to find one is)
one is t3 t4 hybrid (info to follow)
other dont remember but is off 4l perkins diesel, its largeish (way to big as is the t3/t4 to be fitted on my 3.3l 6 pot turbo diesel, so you never know may be ok??)

I had an Idea recently about a TT project... how about using dual DSM T-25's ?? They were engineered for virtually no lag, very fast spool... good for low boost scenario's and are incredibly cheap at any junk yard. Too small for single appication but in dual it might be nice as I thought this would be an easy way to save cheese on the always-expensive TT setups.

Figured more idea's couldn't hurt.

After all they were used on a 2.0L 4g63. so(2)=4.0L
