Ultimate V12?

Fresh out of an M60 Patton tank, an air cooled, 11 litre, 90 degree, twin turbo diesel V12: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...ADME:B:SS:US:1123&viewitem=&item=270218586883

A bit heavy at 4700 lbs (the car chassis might need some additional bracing), and somewhat large at 8' x 8' (think there will be bonnet clearance problems?) According to its Wiki listing here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continental_AV1790 it makes 643 BHP @ 2400 RPM. Think a set of cams would really wake this puppy up....

One guy did actually put a similar tank motor in a car, and it's called the Blastolene Special: http://www.blastolene.com/The_Special/index.htm. TV personality Jay Leno now owns it.

it looks like it could be made considerably smaller by moving the intercoolers and turbo off the motor.

I've driven the BMW V12 and was not that impressed. I have a MB SL600 which has a 6.0 liter V12 and much prefer it. The factory says just under 400 HP and its smooth and fast in a heavier car (?).
Don
