Hey guys, I'm new to this forum.
Just changed the timing belt in my 92 SC400. The camshaft (both of them) rotated a bit and I've tried to align them with the crankshft.

I'm not 100% sure what the timing markers on the cam gears should look like.
I've looked at the Lexus workshop manual, but the diagram isn't too clear on this.

When I look on the gears, I see three possible markers. A groove, a nipple, and a very tiny 'v' on the gear.

I've tried using the little 'v', but that didn't work. The engine would turn over, but not fire up.

Need some help with this...

Look at page 7 of the PDF that lambo posted, align the timing marks on the rear plates with the pullies. The timing tabs in the second picture should be 180 degrees opposite on the other bank.

Got the timing issue solved.

Thanks for the reply. I was actually following that pdf you referred to.

In the end, it was really simple to do.
There is a very tiny 'vee' etched in the cam gear. That has to be aligned with the mark on the back plate as shown in the diagram (page 7).
If this is done correctly, the rotor (once in place) will line up with a mark on the bracket the distributor cap bolts on to.

In retrospect, it was easy to set the timing.
If only I had known about ALL the markers it would have saved me some time and extra effort. Now I know. :)

Thanks for the help. It was much appreciated.

Carib.
