1UZ-FE VVTI Surf Swap. ECU/Timing issue.

Hi,

Just about finished with a 1UZ-FE VVTI Surf conversion. Everything is hooked up and working (V8, manual box, exhaust etc).
I'm using a non-security ECU out of a 97 Crown and it's all wired up and the surf starts up fine and runs, but after a little while or short drive the check engine light comes on and retards the timing.
We've put it through diagnostic checks, double checked the wiring for any dodgy wires or loose ends but still can't find what going on...

Any ideas?

Problem solved. Finally showed up on the diagnostic checks.

Knock sensor was dodgy.

Hopefully get into it over the weekend and finally get on the road!

OK. Knock sensor didn't work.
Have replaced every sensor there is, coils, leads, plugs etc.
Still nothing. Still running like a sack of s**t in 'limp mode'
Any ideas? I'm out...

Have you cleared the codes from the ECU's memory?

u need to put a scanner on it and learn how to understand live data
