Whats goin guys!!! well I just decided to register I've been reading this forum for awhile and im really impressed on all the info in here. I'm currently not a UZ owner at this moment, but will be by the end of next year. I just bought a house so the project is on the back burner. Well I live in Jacksonville, FL but im from central cali. I'm a mech that works on 4600shp engines so i've been around HP. My last project was a 02 celica gts but totaled that. I plan on building a N/A sc400. It doesn't seem like alot of people are all motor why is that???

Theres nothing wrong with N/A from my point of view. Honestly you'd prolly have less maintnence issues because there's less moving parts and who doesn't love an N/A's exhaust note. There's just more power to be made from a turbo or a supercharger. But i'm sure someones got something to say about that proving me wrong, but hey to each their own!
I like turbos, the next guys into superchargers, and the next likes nitrous or somethin different, when it comes down to it (atleast for me) POWER IS POWER! whether your torques up high or down low, you're gunna feel it!

As Skatony stated, those are the reasons. It's harder to make power as with a FI system. Also, a big NA on the 1UZ can't make that much power as the FI 1UZ. It has its limitation.

The reason why I want to go all-motor is because it harder to make power. So who on here is goin N/A?

im not sure who all's going n/a but since this threads been dead for a little while i figured i'd post some info and see who responds about making power with an N/A setup.
1. Flow- heads are where the power's at, as most people know, with natural aspiration, and the best flowing heads, UZ speaking, are the 1uz with vvti (so i've heard).
2. Compression- Goes without stating but, if you don't need to cram extra air and fuel, pump it up!
3. Bore and stroke- What i've learned so far is that, stroking a uz will substantially decrease its reliablity in the long run, especially if you're running at high rpms. Boring
isn't so bad and is probably what your looking for if you're a quarter mile guy.
4.Use- Now if you're not a quarter mile guy you have to consider what your uz will be doing while its running and decide the best system for you're knowledge and the type of use you're uz will be using, maybe N/A wont be the best setup?(as it sounds you're down for the challenge so no matter what you're going n/a??<<very respectable btw!)
5. Pricerange- It's the number 1 limiting factor when making a lot of power. I've seen prettier UZ builders online, but i don't trust that any of them know anywhere near what lextreme knows when it comes to crate UZ'a and lex is giving the best prices and the best values.
I hope to hear more from you and your soon to be build!

Porting the heads, combined with a new lower manifold will help an early (non-VVTi) IUZ breath well.

Stroking the UZ is still a little known territory. A few have been done but no long term results so I can't say good or bad.

Boring has its problems as the cylinder liner is less than 2mm thick and boring beyond that means sleeving which again has it, multiple, problems,

Building a hi-po UZ will never be chaep.

If you want mega grunt use a Chev LS engine and be done with it. For a lot of refinement go the UZ route and accept you will never have a killer horsepower engine.

Capacity restricts ultimate power output. At best you could bore and stroke to 5.4 and maybe be even 6 litres but it wouldn't last.
