Let me begin...My names Joel. I'm 28 will be 29 here shortly. I just got married back in Sep. to my GF and child's mother after 10years of dating. Commitment issues? No way! LOL Also we just had our 2nd baby girl in Dec. I just bought my first "lexus'' and it will be a learning process. I hope to learn and share as much as I can, and meet some new cool people along the way! Exchange connections, tips, tricks, and the like.

Here are some pics of our current cars.

My Current Daily on it's way out...parting it out to fix GS.

And my new-USED GS4 w/NAVI ( boo, now that I witnessed how outdated it is ) ....:woot:

So I was skeptical of buying this car, but I did, picked it up over the weekend. The engine is said to have been blown, as I asked around, I received a form of confirmation by another forum member. He wrote, " the #8 big end is done." So now it's time to take action. I don't know If I'll rebuild it ( if it's rebuildable ) or just replace it. After a few more tests, a oil pan drop, if all results agree with his statement I'll pull the motor and tear it down.

Cons
* Driver Seat & Armrest torn leather
* Scuffed F & R Bumpers
* Bad Psngr. Door Regulator
* Bad engine

Today - I stopped by Harbor freight and grabbed some items to help diag.

I began removing the covers & spark plugs. ( I know at bare minimum headgasket on that bank is done and seals on the other bank. )

after I removed 8 I stuck this extension in the cylinder as I could not see down the hole w/ the batt. in the way as my flash light mirror number didn't cut it.

I found this hose split in half goes to a solenoid on the IM, driver side upper. It's not a fresh wound as you can tell. no signs of hand prints, and or fresh rubber in the tear. So add that to the list during repair.

side note I found this plugged?????

Diagnostic Techniques ( that were included w/ gauge kit )

1. Oil in dipstick tube indicates psi. escaping from the cyl. into the oil jacket. This usually indicated stuck, burned or worn rings or cyl. walls

2. Radiator filler opening bubbles or sound indicates psi escaping into the coolant jacket. This can indicate cracked cyl. walls or damaged head gasket. In case of a damaged head gasket, often two or more adjacent cyl. will show the same problem

3. Adjacent cyl. indicates a damaged HG.

4. Tail pipe indicates burned, stuck or worn exh. valve.

5. Carb or IM indicates stuck, burned or worn intake valve

Onto My Results:

I'll be posting everything related to my GS here ....................

Most recent purchase. Nothing grand.

Engine Gasket & Accs.

So I had some free time today, and went outside to play w/ the GS. Long story short I have decided to a head(s) job before I buy a new engine. If it doesn't work, then more than likely I'll just rebuild it, before buying a used LB for $900 in an unknown condition I'd rather just invest in my current one. If I get rich while the engines out, I'll just spring for the full rebuild.

so here's some pics from today..... It appears the timing is correct according to the manual.
