I am having a bit of an issue with my Toyota Celsior/LS400...

I had a problem the other day, i randomly got all my dash warning lights come on in my celsior, and diagnosed it was a faulty alternator, so i got that fixed. Now what is happening is that I was driving to work, and didnt seem to see anything wrong, however, I got to work, turned the car off, tried to start it again and it had lost all charge in the battery...

What I am wondering is, could it be something to do with fuses/relays, earthing, or something else, because its like the battery isn't charging properly. The car stays running when its jump started, but, all the lights are dimmer then normal, i get no warning lights, and the temp guage doesnt reach its normal level and the wipers are slower moving...

If someone can give me some advice it would be really great...

EDIT: The battery is only a few months old too i forgot to mention

I'm pretty sure there is a large 'ALT' fuse near the battery/fusebox, probably 120A or so.

See if its blown.

I just turned the ignition on, without starting the car, its missing some of the normal warning lights you see when the ignition comes on... the battery charge light isn't there, and a few others, (cant exactly remember all of what was there), but ive only got handbrake, the oil pressure or temp warning light, and check engine light... none of the others that are normally seen...

Ill check that fuse, but being a jap import (celsior) im not sure what fuses mean what... lol... but ill have a look for all signs of a alt fuse or battery fuse... see what i manage to conclude

Had a look at the fuse, it was fine... thought ok, ill take it to an auto sparky to have a look, and didnt even make it, i lost all my electricity...

Luckily the mechanic that fitted the new alternator paid to have it towed back to the workshop, and is going to fix it free of charge... got my multi-meter out and it wasn't charging the battery at all...

maybe like most auto elects they always blame the alternator

and cause a 1uz has the alt wiring in a pain in the butt spot they dont bother checking them

another thing is what did u pay for an alternator fix

last one i did was for full rebiuld and was around 300 to 400 bucks

its not worth doing a half job on these 1uzs cause anything can be a pain to get offf

Well, it got fixed... was a fault in the wiring harness which the auto elec caused, so he fixed that for free... but i paid $500 for a brand new alternator, inc. fitting and labour... which wasn't as bad as i was expecting for my 1uz
