Hey guys,

Is the deck height between the 1uz and the 2uz the same? Since the crank stroke is different and if the deck height and rods are the same, are the compression heights between the 1uz and 2uz pistons different?

Thanks guys,

Eric

Very good question. I think they are all the same....

1uzfe stroke: 3.25"
1uzfe stroke: 3.31"
1uzfe stroke: 3.25"

I think the 1&3 have the same deck height for sure. However, i would not be surprise if the 2uzfe have the same deck height. I ordered a set of custome pistons for my 2uzfe block but its will mate with 1uzfe heads. Eventhough the 2uzfe have .06" greater stroke but the 2uzfe pistons also goes above the deck (TDI). The 2uzfe heads are machine to compensate for the above the deck pistons along with a change in compression height.

I had thought about it the other day when looking at off the shelf piston options. The ords look to be the same length, and the stroke is different, so either the deck height is more on the 2uz, or the compression height is lower.

That's an interesting comparison. From what we see in these pics, can we tell either the difference in deck height, or in compression height?

Thanks Lex!

I really think deck height are the same but the head configurations and compression height compensate for the greater stroke of the 2uzfe. I hope those inside info help your questions.

Hmmmm...this would mean that the compression height of a 2uz-fe piston is 1.276". This is interesting.

Thanks Lex!

It being verify right now... i will give you a more solid answer soon. However, i think the all uzfe have the same deck height.

Deck Height Formula:
Cylinder block deck height = Crankshaft throw + connecting rod length + piston compression height + piston deck clearance

1UZFE
Crankshalf Throw (CT): Stroke/2 (3.25/2)
Rod Length (RL): 5.745"
Compression Height CH): 1.336
Piston Deck Clearance (DC): .05"

1.625"(CT) + 5.745"(RL) + 1.336"(CH) + .05"(DC) = 8.756"(DH)

Now the real question is whether the 2uz is the same deck height, and if so (because of the differing stroke), is this acheived by lowering the compresson height?

Eric

2UZFE also have negative Piston Deck Clearance. Pistons are above deck at TDC.

2UZFE
Crankshalf Throw (CT): Stroke/2 (3.31/2)
Rod Length (RL): 5.745"
Compression Height CH): ???
Piston Deck Clearance (DC): .05"

1.655"(CT) + 5.745"(RL) + ????"(CH) + -.05"(DC) = ????(DH)

you said "2UZFE also have negative Piston Deck Clearance"
does that mean the 1uzfe has a negative piston deck clearance
just in your deck height formula you calculated for the 1uz you used a positive figure. i don't have an engine apart to measure at the moment and i just want to make sure i get it right.
