Well i thought it was time to start my own thread about my project build

I have a import 91 Ls400 Lexus (Celsior), has 105,000km on clock, was a 1 owner before me, has all options except for sunroof.

I was going to go for twin To4 turbo's, but due to room and some bad stories i desided on going for a supercharger instead.
After reviewing some of the blower mods that have been done and that are avaiable for the 1uz engines i went for the 3.3ltr whipple as my aim is to get +500rwkw and to run between 20-30 psi without maxing the blower on std pump gas.

car has now got
1 3/4 extractors to 2 1/2 straight though dual exhurst (sounds sweet as)
dual 12" thermo fans
supra diff with a Kaaz lsd center
TT supra brakes all round
new aftermarket airbag suspension
alloy mags 18x8 front, 18x10 rear
touch screen 7" dvd,gps audio system with amp and sub

whats in the working now
original engine is getting a rebuild which is just about done
(i have a spare engine in car for now)
engine comp will be 8.5:1 with Cp forged pistons
Argo I beam rods w ls19 rods
heads are been ported an fitted w SR20 s/s valves
8 pack coil setup (all the spark in the world)
870cc injectors and high flow rails
dual bosch 044 fuel pumps
2.5 ltr surge tank
rising fuel reg
dual 1/2 fuel lines
set of tighie cams (custom grind for blower)
4 speed auto is getting overhualed with a stage 1 kit at MV,
3500rpm stallie with shiftkit an HD trans cooler
aftermarket ecu

i will be doing dyno run, before an after engine swap (already planned)

IMO, you can achieve more than 500 RWHP with that setup. Maybe 850 RWHP !!

500 rwkw is just under 700 h.p at the wheels...
Killerwasps not ponypower...

Have just now made arrangement to import a ucf20 series 2 half-cut frontend to upgrade my frontend instead off importing a bodykit in.

Any progress on the half cut project? Your picture is the same color as my 1999 LS400. I wonder how close the parts will fit (if even practical) since there were major body changes in 1995.

Otherwise very cool project. I am somewhat concerned about your choice of 4.11 gears AND 3500rpm stall converter. With a PD supercharger you should have excellent low speed power. That combination may make street tires useless for any kind of standing start effort. Without major suspension changes slicks on a dragstrip may just create violent wheel hop. I would almost suggest finding a rear subframe and differential from a MKIV Supra twin turbo 6 speed. Strongest differential, LSD and 3.13 gearing may be what is needed for street efforts.

Anyway, great project and I am sure you will post all results.

If you can get 700hp at the wheels you've spent a lot of money on goodies to go inside the engine

great LS man...hey I have been trying to squeeze an LSD into my LS for a while now.... You said you used a supra? was that n/a or turbo? I thought they would not fit. What was the process like? straight swap?

JBrady hey can i swap a subframe + LSD from supra turbo? I mean would the body bolt into the same locations? Also I would in effect have an LS suspensio in front and supra in rear? lol would this mean i would have to get 2 more coilovers too? sounds like a huge job.

great info. thanks a bunch. So for the swap do I need the pumpkin too? or just the diff inside? Im not a gear head yet and dont know what im doing but plan on sending the LSD + car to a driveline specialist for the job. So when they crack the diff out they should clearly see where the bolt needs to be fabbed?

hypronet thanks man appreciate this golden info. Is this why my stock diff has the 2 bottom mounts and only 1 on the top? It looked weird 1st time I checked out what I had. the standard SC diff has 2 bottom 2 top so this makes sense. So for this to mount properly I should drill thru and make a reliable mounting hole for the extra mounting tab?
sufficient metal to tap?

Sorry for the barrage of questions but you seem to be the only person thus far that has any knowledge on the early LS diff. I plan on sourcing a used one from a wrecking yard and re-build and then once build the fabbing begins

I am unsure on the interchangability of Supra and LS subframes. Hypronet installed his by creating at least one new bolt location as the LS up to 1997 used a 3 bolt differential housing and the Supra (and SC and GS4xx and LS from 1998-2000 at least) use a 4 bolt differential attachment arrangement.

I am not sure how Hypronet got away with only 1 new attachment point as both front attachment locations look different than the single LS setup.

Here are some pics of the LS 3 bolt carrier.

Here is the 4 point differential layout from a Lexus manual. Notice the front mounting points are located on arms like a hammerhead shark. Compared to the single mounting point on the LS that is much closer to the imput on the pinion. It would seem that 2 mounting locations along with engineering to create proper clearance and strength would be needed. Not sure how Hypronet has done it with only adding one mounting location. Maybe he can post some pics.

This will be a impresive build! Can I ask why you went with a 3.3? The W140 2.3 would be enough would it not? Just wondering becuase I am about to make a supercharger purchase.

hypronet- gotcha... I would love some pics of the diff. So you used the stock 3 locations and just welded a large nut above the mount? What im asking is does this bolt onto the 1 existing "arm" and still line up? supra arm mounts look longer in the pics and didn't know if 1 of the mounting arms on the supra diff would line up w/ my subframe... I guess it should if you only needed to fab 1 arms (side).

Technically if the yolk lined up I could bolt this sucker right in and have an extra arm "dangling" and then once mounted add the extra welded hardware. If so this makes it pretty easy to fab... 3 of 4 bolt locations is enough IMO to hold "in place" for the 4th to be welded.

very interesting build mate. how much did the LSD conversion cost you in total? would sound like a fair bit.
and what brake setup are u using?

sorry for so many questions... but was just curious as a fellow ls400 enthusiast :D
