This is my first time posting on here. I've been a reader of this forum for quite some time but never had much of a reason to post until now. But with that being said, I figured that you guys might appreciate the current status of my mk3.
The whole process took about 3-4 weeks of actual work. It's still in the "shake down phase". When I'm confident that everything is sound then I'll put all the engine covers on and clean the rest of the mess up under the hood.

Here's what's done:
100% stock 1UZ-FE from the junkyard $350
Borg warner S366 (kind of annoying that this turbo is becoming the flavor of the month)
Running on E85
R154
Haltech EMS
8 x 875cc Injectors
Totally stock ignition system with all new components
3" I/C pipes to a 4" I/C core
2 Walbros feeding a -8 to the rails

Currently the car is sitting at 14psi. It feels pretty much like my 1J did at about 20psi but with a ridiculous power band. Unfortunately the clutch is letting go at anything above that. The clutch is rated at 600ftlbs...but you know how that goes.As far as final boost is concerned, I'm aiming for 20-25psi when it's all said and done. I don't see that being a problem at all with E85, 10:1 compression and and exceptional tuner ;-) The ONLY weakness in this engine is the composite headgaskets. If they become an issue then I'll swap MHG's and studs on. Then my goal will move to 30+psi.

Heres a 3 minute video that sums up an hour of tuning. It still feels wierd with that exhaust note coming from my Supra.
Don't think I'll ever get used to that.

And just one more for any mk3 lovers out there.

Looks and sounds great! Got any pics of your turbo manifold? Doing a single turbo 1uz myself in a 240sx and im looking for ideas on wastegate placement.

Looking real good. 30 psi on std. rods for the future ?

Question. Is that a R154 box or a W58 ? Lokks to be the latter.

Getting ready to fit my 1UZ into my 200 SX as well..

It's a r154. And as for boost, my goal with this setup is to find it's limit. Seeing as how I can get 4 of these engines for the price of one 2j, I'm willing to test the waters and see what these engines can really handle - instead of assuming from some guys wiki. lol.

this is inspiring! i will be interested to hear what the motors limit is. my guess without a HG and studs no more then 600. and if it survived anything over 750 with HG and studs id be amazed... im doing my "stage 1" with 8psi, holset H1C, cartech fmu, 315cc, walbro. then once that is working properly, then its time for the "stage 2" MLS HG, arps, another walbro, hx40, 650cc, then standalone. hoping to get 400rwhp out of my stage 1 then, a solid 6/650rwhp(gear box and clutch allowing).

Gearbox won't hold much more than 550ftlbs. I'm switching to a tremec t56 magnum and tilton 7.25" triple plate clutch

How do you go about running a T56 on a iuzfe? I.E, bellhousing, clutch etc?

I guess an adapter plate such as used on Powerglide, T400 auto etc...?
Depending what source the box came from ...
Unless some one local makes as adapter from generic housing ???

Sry not to jack your thread but if your going to use e85 can you you just put in 30% larger injectors-+( considering it needing 30% more fuel) with the stock setup+ fmu? for 8-10 lbs of boost??

In theory..yes. But in the reality of the tuning world...no so much. There are going to spots that are going to end up overly rich or lean in your map.

Mine is stock as a rock (long motor) making 650hp at the crank on 16psi with E85 at present....hits the circuit with 14psi (slightly lower 590ish hp) and has held together so far.

On a dyno i could squeeze 750hp out of it easy enough and it would last on the street as you simply can't use this hp (well not in my chassis). Not so much at the track i suspect ;)

Gotta love E85...you can run a car so much higher without the worry you get from pump gas, plus not the cost of race gas. Just wish it was more readily available.

Awesome set up!

Ryan
