Havn't driven it, so can't say anything about it. What i do know is that the Porsche 996 Turbo_S is a pretty good car, not only because of the power and brakes, but the interior is nice to.

apparently the 997 Turbo is even better. in my opinion, the best car in the world is an Ultima GTR. just because its killer fast and you can give it loads of power and use many different engines. and its a bargain, even better than the Z06.

David,

I don't know about the LS460 being the worlds's best car...need to put some qualifications on that title, but I have driven one and they are simply awesome...in fact, I am trading my wife's 06 SC 430 for one...the car is on a boat from Japan as we speak and we should have it by next week.

Wayne,

You scared me for a second saying "I am trading my wife for one" Sorry miss-read. LOL.... I didn't read the 06 SC430. I know the video was bias but that was stated. I would say for the price its the best luxury car in the world.

i can agree on that. i would love to drive one to school every day.

I wouldn't say its the worlds best car, maybe the worlds best car under 100k is possible, but I know without any bound on money a few I would take before it. I don't think one can say the Ultima GTR or any other such car (Z06 included) can be the worlds best car because they are so one dimensional. They may be extremely fast, but try a 2 hour commute in a GTR... Yeah, probably not the most fun thing. The 997 turbo has power, handling, and daily drivability. Oh yeah, the interior isn't that bad anymore either. Of course, it goes over that 100k point. The LS460 has luxury unmatched by any car, and with 380 horses it can hold its own if you choose to open it up. That type of combination is unmatched in anything I can think of under 100k.

As stated by so many the Austin Martin Vanquish is the most desired car on the planet...For the LS460 Price I would still choose the new Chevy Corvette Z06 but those really are two different cars...Luxury and price maybe the LS460 is the best....You need to also consider the new Jags, Mercs, and Caddy's...All nice high end luxury cars...

ya, but it doesnt have the handling. .80 on the skidpad.

There is no "Best Car in the World" period.

There are plenty of "best car in category" but every manufacturer slices the market in such a way that they can say their car is best.

Probably the best two seat three cylinder turbo car in the world is a Smart car but who would drive one?

Other would say the Rolls Royce Phantom because it's the most expensive.

You buy what you like because it does what you want at a price you can afford.

The LS is a great device but I know for sure you would get me out of my Mercedes for one.

Intereting one of our local "homegrown" cars the new Holden Commodore is getting rave reviews and is being compared to any current BMW but would you want one? Not me. But still a very good car.

For me it has got to be the Ariel Atom.... i especially like the 0-100mph and back to 0 again time of 10.88 seconds! and 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds!

300bhp supercharged civic type r engine and a 500kg weight, not suprisingly it goes like a space shuttle.

The styling is unique and really appeals to the engineer in me. mmmm 'bodyless' tubular chassis.

Should point out the 'for me' bit and i suppose thats the critical bit, everyone is very different in what they want from a car so it is impossible to say what is the best car, i know people will only buy cars they can fix with a xmas present tool kit and cable ties, so an LS460 is definately out of the window for them.

although if i had kids and all that rigmoral my daily driver would have to be something different... probably an ls460

Too small, no girth...Where's the luxury aspect in a pocket rocket like that? I think the Porsche's are like that too, just an expensive high powered fancy go-cart...Just my point of view and opinion......

My list for somewhat reasonably priced rides...

Luxury - The top end luxury Lincoln's are hard to beat for the money, you can fall sleep in those cars no problem..

Performance and Luxury - AMG Merc's..I know from experience the E55 AMG Merc is a ridiuculous 4 door car...The SL55 AMG's are sick too.... I still don't think Lexus can compete with those rides....Well actually the new Lexus 600H coming out can surely compete I would think...

Straight performance - Chevy Corvette Z06 for the money...

Reliability, luxury, performance, then maybe the above Lexus...

Got to love that auto pilot parking feature on this car...What's next to come in these newer cars the auto pilot feature full time to drive you from point A to point B?

yeh definately agree but when the top spec version of the atom is less than half that of the base ls460 you start really considering the two car game, my point being i would rather have two cars that do something specific exceptionally than one that is an exceptional all rounder.

That's an interesting choice Stacy.....I might elect to take the best of both worlds in one car rather then the two seperate cars...

There is one problem i see with the ls460, for us europeans anyway is that is is MASSIVE by our standards.

Its over 6 inches longer than a current range rover and having driven one of those for a week i can say on uk roads it is a nightmare even with the improved visiblity of being so high up. It is too long and wide for uk parking spaces and too long to fit in most peoples garages, if you do fit it in then you can't open the doors to get out.

You get door dings gallor when you drive a big car as people trying to squeeze into the car you have parked next to generally blame you for driving such a huge beast and show it no respect. sad but true.

These increasingly big luxury cars are starting to go too far for europe as unfortunately the target market for them, (the more affluent) generally live in one of two areas, the cosmopolitan inner city areas (areas of london such as kensington etc) where parking is nigh on impossible in anything bigger than a mini, the streets are narrow and you stand the chance of having your vehicle yanked out of the way with a chain by a fire engine if it can't get passed to attend an emergency. Or a leafy picturesque village with narrow single track roads for miles in every direction, there is only so much reversing one person can stand before you go insane on your journey, when you finally do get to where your going, squeezing down the side of your car to get out, and comming back to find another new tiny door ding will completely negate any relaxation and serenity the luxury may have brought you.

buuut i would still have one as a second car :ponder:

thats rediculous. every review ive ever read about the Z06 says the interior is craptastic. shoddy seats and worse than piss poor interior plastics. and they say its a bit hard to drive and it is an absolute monster in the wet. anyone could drive the Lexus just about the same way they do in the wet or snow as they do in the dry. the Lexus can practically park itself, and it carries 4 people in extreme comfort. i know for a fact, that even though i havent driven the Z06 or the LS460 that the LS will be magnitudes more comfortable than the Z06.

Anaema - It's not rediculous and the Z06 is not a Dodge Viper either to the feel.....Until you have actually had the chance to see one in real life, sit in one, drive and hammer one like I have, you may elect to change your comments.. Don't know what the reviews say but I say it's sweat, sleak, drives real nice, 1st gear goes on forever, traction and handling are absolutely amazing, sounds tough, stereo rocks, shifts really smoothe and nice into gears, Brakes on a dime, a little stiff when driving and the interior is decent and nothing amazing, but it has very comfortable leather seats, and definetely feels like a true sports car when you are driving...Needless to say those cars are extremely fast and hard to beat...You hit the gas and you are gone....Don't think the LS460 is even close in the performance specs...As is the Zo6 is not in the same luxury class as the LS460...Really two totally different cars...

Is there a Z06 owner in the house, or anyone that has driven one?
