Hey all,

Here's a thought, I'm looking into supercharging my 1uz, thing is costs will be cut to an absolute minimum, (just because I like doing car-stuff that way) the goal is 460hp at the crankshaft, that should give me +/-400rwhp on a G50 box.

I havent seen an M90 yet to break the 400hp, let alone 460 and that seems to do with volume, it just can't provide enough air to do that.
M112 are far to expensive in my opinion
so what about twin eatons? not M45's they won't do anything better than one m90, but parralel twin M62's, I can get those cheapish over here, remote mounted with small IC's running low boost 0.7-1.0bar.

has anybody done that before?

also has anybody got a M90 lying around which they would want to weigh up for me?

I've been in contact with Rotrex european agent, to discover that these units are very expensive, but still a good option. I think it's wrong, spending 4 times as much on the charger than I did on the engine itself.
if it'll be rotrex it'll be a C38-71 on 0.8bar.

there's absolutly no room for twin turbo + exhaust + big IC's on the side's of the engine.
about the el-cheapo thingy: I don't want to spend 50 bucks and get 460hp, but I do not believe that 460hp should get me digging my own goldmine. with today's technology that should be possible for very decent money! and the more money I save on the engine the more there's to get the 13" AP-racing brake kit with the car!

regards Thomas

Richwood do quad rotor superchargers for selected applications. PM or Email Andrew Mueller (member name "Richwood") and he'll probably send you some photos.

What about the AMG E/SL/CSL55 charger? They are offered on ebay once in a while. Not super cheap, but it's a nice big unit :)

Both would end up in the same price league as the rotrex C38-71 is, in which case it'll be rotrex.

why drive twin chargers? remember, belt drives cost power.

then you have to fabricate a manifold to suit.

buy a bigger single and be done with it.

Hey Rod and Pro,

I know what you mean, but the idea was as follows.

twin remote mounted M62 with small intercoolers on a semi/stock (lower part + velocity stacks and alloy-airbox with twin throttles on it.

the fabrication of such a manifold will cost next to nothing for me, maybe $50 worth of alloy, i can get welding done for e few beers and a laugh in the pub, and I've got plenty suitable throttlebodies lying around.
Note that various twin charger users state thet if the volume at a certain presure is maintained inbetween 1 big or 2 small chargers, the extra los from the second charger will be about 13% added on the power taken by compressor one.
as it are pos-disp I can see this hapen

so the only cost would be the twin m62 which cost next to nothing over here in holland (next to germany which is merc-benz M62 heaven) and a drive belt

so that's why I opted for this. I can buy 4 m62 merc eatons for the price of one USA M112.

I've seen a twin SC'd UZ on gas using Toyota SC14 superchargers (they come off the 1GGZE 2 litre 6cyl). A very interesting engineering feat but easier ways to get the same performance.

If it's gonna work for you though, go for it. There's no fundamental reason not to, just a few practical ones and you sound confident that you have them beat?

Have a look for the Jag M112 ex England. I got mine sent from over there and it only cost $600 aussie dollars brand new. They come up on ebay fairly often, however thay are not as common as the Lightning ones. They are also much lighter and more compact (once you cut off the Jag mounting lug!) than the Lightning version. They don't come with a bypass valve built in however, so you have to externally mount one. This can be an advantage as you can fit it exactly where you want.

Hey QCB,

Also an oppertunity to investigate, though the only ones that cam up in the last few months where with the engine attached.... anyway 600 AUS is very cheap! and worth every penny, thanx for the pricetag. (far cheaper that I thought)

anyway it's on the stand as we speak beying cleaned up, my current car needs to be sold befor I can start on the next one, that''ll probably be a Gardner douglass T70 lola replica.
