Here's an idea to kick around...
PWR'S smallest A/W barrel cooler is a 4" dia by 6" tube rated at 223 kw. If you cut the pipe transitions off 2 coolers and weld them end to end, with an inch or so in the middle for a small plenum to allow the air to pass from one to the other, you get a cooler rated at 446 kw in a package 4" by 13".....!!??
The water is piped into the engine end of each barrel making it a 2 stage device. Is there any advantage in efficiency...?
I reckon one of these would fit neatly along each side of the plenum above the injector fuel rails. Put a throttle body on the front of each and a 180' transition into the back of the plenum chamber......?
Now rated at 892 kw.....!
Lex's twin turbo setup, (& my VL if I can get the 3" exhausts thru?), would have less than 2 feet of intake pipe, per turbo, running up the front of the engine and 90' into each throttle body. Must be close to minimum volume.....
For the ultimate throttle response we can, (as suggested elsewhere), leave the throttle bodies off and mount a custom plenum on top of a set of 1uzquadcams ITB setups......??
Most efficient intercooling, minimum intake volume and the ultimate throttle response..................................??????????????????
Comments and brickbats please....
