Lex ....The only one that I was able to find was from Castlemaine rod shop in Victoria, Australia. It costs around $850 U.S. shipped to the East Coast (Georgia).

Good luck.

geezus those guys can charge.

i would try to build my own for that price - a thin sandwich plate with both bolt patterns using countersunk HT hex bolts.

That's the problem I was facing when looking into the Th400 tranny swap on my SC400 was the adaptor plate find...Impossible it doesn't exist in the States. The biggest adapter shops in the US couldn't come up with an adaptor to fit...I looked into a company called American Adaptors, nothing.

I have a machinest here in West LA that can make one for cheap if I can hand him a blue print of it.. Maybe as low as $250..I kid you not...He does Porchse adaptors and is good...Something to think about...

David, you sound like a good candidate for one of John's trannies. http://www.ipttrans.com/toyotaauto.shtml. We haven't heard from him in awhile. IIRC he has access to TH400 adaptors, too.

Max (Red Supra) or Cowboy probably know where to source TH400 adaptors as well.

John

Cribby - I talked with John at your tranny shop and he can definetely build up our stock Lexus trannies..the only problem is that he is located in New Jersey and we are in California.. I had discussed shipping costs but after it was all figured out I thought it would be way too much money and trouble.. However, If I lived in New Jersey or New York my car would already be at his shop.. He know's his stuff, very smart guy....

I've been thinking about making the Th400 adapters since they'd be rather small, and inexpensive (compared to the V160 adapters), but I don't have a Th400 or a Lexus bellhousing to play with.

Eric

Another alternative is a company called www.boostlogic.com. They have built sc automatic trannies to run 9's in the quarter for $1800. Wdoherty gave me this hookup. I am still working with them, looks promising... Again this also is out of State...Texas

Also the build up of the stock tranny involves changing to Raybestos blue friction disc's and koleen steels, with those upgrades the tranny from what I have been told can handle massive hp's.... Also fitting in more clutches to increase the holding capasity is another option to consider...I have been down this tranny build road and am still driving down it, and that V160 is still wispering in my ear, choose me..:drive:

Be SURE to do the homework on that $1800 miracle tranny. There's been numerous issues documented through Supraforums with it, with as little as 400Rwhp daily driven. Not downplaying the tranny, or Kean/ Zohair from BL. Those are good guys. Just MAKE SURE you do all of the homework on that tranny before you purchase. If this tranny was doing what it's proposed to do, their would be no need for the Th400 swap.

sorry to stray off topic a bit, what are the differences between the TH400 and the TH350?

i have read about upping the oil pressure in A341Es to 120 - 170psi and fitting those raybestos bands and koleen steels but to me it just doesn't seem enough.

Contacted Dellow but no response yet. Are they hard to get a hold of? Can someone give them a call for me. I am interested in the 1uzfe TH400 adapter/bellhousing. I can pick up a stock tran TH400 for about $200 and a performance rebuild kit is about $200. $300 for the labor (rebuilding fee) My transmission friend and i been doing lots of measuring. Looks like we can get a Lexus torque converter(Shell) with GM internal (TC internal). We just have to make sure the TC length will match with the TH400 tranny.

Why couldn't you use your Lexus bellhousing and an adapter plate sandwiched between the bellhousing and the TH400?

Well for those prices I too would go with the th400 trans swap, that is a big difference from the $1800 out of state miracle tranny... As always good luck with the swap....and say goodbye to those smoothe luxury Lexus transmission shifts...

I used the raybestos Blue friction plates, Koleen steels, raised the line pressure, and shimmed the acuators.
My trans held the 500 RWTQ for months now.
One of the solenoids started sticking, but it was original. (I'm pretty sure it failed do to use, not power)
But the launch was still the same girly lexus launch, with a Torque Converter.
From what I know about the TH350, and Th400 is they are very simular, but the TH400 is a little heaver duty. Both can be built to handle some high torque.
One negitive about the TH350-TH400 is its a 3-speed no overdrive.

I'm pretty sure Max (redsupra) has a source for them. Actually I think he is selling his adapter plate, and TH400 trans.
But I'm pretty sure a stock TH400 isn't going to hold the torque either, and building a TH350-TH400 can get pretty expensive plus you loose OD.
If your looking to drag race, I would say yes, but for a street cat the A340E would be more drivable, or the A341E i think is in the LS.
This Trans (or family of trans) is used in some Jeeps, and those guys go crazy with building stuff.
If you look, I think you'll find info on the A340
