Midmounted Mazda Minitruck

The 1UZFE EGR Delete Kit is available for sale here.
yeah im aware of that, and there are specific rules in the low volume vehicle certifying process in nz to ensure certain parts aren't chromed and those that are are safe. here we're allowed to chrome up to grade 8 bolts, which ill be doing. most of the ute ive tried to over-engineer to hell, so that i don't need to worry about it, but at the end of the day, everything has to get engineering signoff before being road legal.

So is that the beast finished now Rod? It looks pretty radical :) Bet it goes like stink too.

Being an LS3 swap I'd need a Moderator to approve me posting it here.

And yes it goes like stink but lots of bodywork to go and then engineering.

Our driveway has two long black lines from driving up it. Not doing burnouts and that's with 12x29x15 Micky Thompson drag radials.

Rod, I think since you've been such a loyal supporter of the site for so many years, no one would object to having your latest creation here.

Shoot, if I can post up threads about BMW V12's and Ferrari's, I don't think anyone would have issues with a chebbie powered Mitsu pickup truck :)

John,

Not sure of the best palce but maybe Fabrication as it has lots of fab and doens't tread on too many toes.

Sad thing is I'm really leaning toward putting an LS3 in my Rover.

Maybe the supercharged UZ in the pick=up via an engine exchange?

Rod, it's your choice, but I'd consider putting it right here in the project/swap section.

I don't think anyone will be offended - it's a great project, even though it only has 1/2 the valves and 1/4 the cams of the UZ :D

That's the best 1UZ ute build I've seen!

The mid mount engine aspect is very intriguing, certainly a LOT more interesting than the conventional 1UZ front engine utes out there.

Thanks! Yeah I find it odd that more people don't do this with show utes, as it just made good sense to me. Super low car with big wheels you need lots of engine bay space, so it frees that up, and with a body drop its best to have nothing under the cab if possible, so I don't need to worry about gearbox/driveshaft/exhaust space, and most guys don't use the trays once they're all painted and done nicely in show utes, so its not like I'm losing anything there either haha ;)

Also the weight distribution sold it for me on that alone, with a flat deck and v8 in the front, I'd never get the power down!
