The T56 bellhousing thread here has a bunch of views which tells me this is the number one drivetrain question on the forum. But that thread is specific to one adapter. Figured it's worth a broader thread covering all the current options.

Here's where things stand as I understand it in 2026:

T56/TR6060 -- Still the most popular choice for performance builds. Billet bellhousing adapters are available, the gearbox itself is strong enough for big power, and the knowledge base here is solid. Parts and rebuild kits are widely available.

R154 (from the MkIII Supra) -- Compact, lighter than the T56, handles up to around 450ft-lb reliably. Popular for builds where space is tight. Bellhousing adapters exist. Synchros are getting harder to source new.

W58 -- Lighter and cheaper to source but limited in torque capacity. Fine for a mild N/A or low-boost build, not ideal above 350ft-lb.

ZF 8HP (automatic but worth mentioning) -- A few people are going this route now. Paddle shift, handles massive torque, but the wiring integration is a project. The "8HP Journey" thread here is worth a read if you're considering it.

What's everyone running in 2026? Post your combo -- gearbox, bellhousing adapter, clutch setup, and what the car is.
