Is the short block of 1ZU-FE compatable with a 1ZU-FE with VVTi ??

The 1UZFE EGR Delete Kit is available for sale here.

My LS400 1998 engine, 1ZU-FE VVTi, died because of oil pressure problems. The crank and block are very scratch that I decide to buy a 1ZU-FE but the engine was not from a VVTi so physically the top of the engine looks different.

Does the short block are interchanable ?

Thanks in advance.

The short answer is no...the oil gallereis to the head are completely different

Here is the thread with the details

Bottom line; the non-vvti block does not have a port to feed oil pressure to the vvti mechanism AND the oil feeds to the cam bearings are in a different location. This would require engineering a way to provide oil to both points AND make sure you are not loosing pressure from the unused ports AND you are not causing some other part of the oiling system to have reduced oil flow. This is all doable but requires R&D and with that there are ALWAYS surprises.

Easier and likely cheaper to go with a vvti block. One thing to keep in mind, if you can locate a 3UZFE that will give you a 0.3 liter increase. You could also source a vvti iron 2uzfe and get Lextreme's mounts and parts to gain 0.7 liters.
