fuel ecu problem, I think

The 1UZFE EGR Delete Kit is available for sale here.
I have finally got my car back. It has been a difficult and expensive excercise. At the end of the day it was only a simple problem. The wiring between the fuel pump ecu and the fuel pump(behind the moulding in the boot) had been bared by friction on the tank and and was shorting out the fuel pump ecu. Took a while to find. When I finally sent it to a Soarer specialist in Brisbane Australia (Wayne at Tuff Toys) he worked it out and repaired the problem in no time at all. The lesson I have learned from all this are. Don't give the car to someone to fix unless you have worked out what the problem is yourself and simply give instructions on what to fix. The Soarer came back with far better fuel economy and is an absolute dream to drive. Thanks everyone for all your help along the way.

Ahh, how random.

Similar thing happened to my car a few years back.
When I first got it I had a new motor put in it, and while the mechanic was out on the test run it died.
Towed it back and call the auto sparky out the next day. Checked the car ovr (I have no idea how long he spent), but it turned out the earth on the fuel pump had come loose.

Very random thing to happen, and I'm glad it didn't happen while I was driving her.

I had my SC400 doing the same thing. I would start it and then it would immediately die out. I would try starting it three or four times then the car would start and run fine.... I found it to be a faulty ground wire in the ignition wiring near the engine fuse box...That was my doing when I did the electric fan swap and bridged the ignition to get power...A faulty ignition ground wire can also do that exact same stalling out symptom on your 1992 SC400...Not likely but possible and something to think about....
