I just returned from a 2600+ Mile trip. during one stretch b/n 4 am and 10 am with the A/C off i got a little more than 26 mpg i was doing about 72 mph most of the time (usually i get 24 on the highway at about the same speed with A/C). What is the best mpg anyone has got with a gen 1 LS 400 (speeds of 55mph and up) iw ill be interested to know.

1999 LS400, not a first gen but may help.

Average speed was 76 mph

500 miles on that tank

Computer, which is actually pessimistic, indicated I could have gone another 36 miles.
I could have probably went 550 miles before running dry.

On The Sc400 93 I Think They Have 17 Or 18 Gallon Tank, I Think They Should Be The Same On The Ls As Well.

My 92 sc400 gets about 22mpg highway, i wonder why its worse than the 1st gen LS400 by a couple of mpg. Also, my exhaust has a kinda rich smell to it on start-up, but the records show that the o2 sensors have been changed? What's you mpg highway sc400rayray? Gotta love that vvt JBrady.

yea thats about right,i get about 22, 23 17 or lees if i go about 125mph

at 80MPH during a 500 mile drive it got 27 mpg. that's right, i didn't stop for gas.
