FISH anti-rust finish (need Ideas)

Ok so I have gone through 2 versions of the fish and this latest one is still un-coated steel and has a slight rust starting from the last storm i drove through. Last time I just used black appliance paint and it worked ok.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good cheap type of paint I should use? Thats better suited for all around abuse? If it can be bought at Home depot or Lowe's it would be easier for me to get.

Powder coating. I can do it at my place. Since you are back it only take few hours for the whole process.

Powder coating is the way to go. Powder coating penetrates the surface metal much deeper than paint. However, if you want to paint it, you must really clean the metal surface with break cleaner and dry it out completly so it'll show just the bare metal. Then use exterior paint primer to paint it first. Primer sticks to bare metal better than the regular paint. Sand the primer smooth, clean it thoroughly, and paint it with exterior paint.

It isn't all that cheap but it is quite brilliant.
