We dropped our car on the dyno yesterday for a tune... long day, a few hiccups but a good result.
prob 1: Powersteer feed line (we've buggered off the bottle) wasnt feeding enough fluid to the pump due to a 90deg forged bend. whoops. Trips to various places to get the hose and and as a temp fix ended out using heater hose!
prob 2: Car is too wide for the dyno. whoops. FIxed by pulling side plates off and having an inch of tyre hanging off either side...
prob 3: on the dyno, it sounds shite, no power, running on 4 cyl, turns out no spark from no2 dizzy. Check coil, plugs, leads, turns out ignitor plug is a bit dodge. temp fix with cable ties.
first power run, 170hp. not bad considering its on 33" mud tyres!
dial out heeeaps of fuel. 2nd power run, 185. nice
keep tuning, 3rd power run 194... but whats that strange noise??? Idler pulley is throwing a bearing. eff it, keep going!
4th power run, 206. Noice! But pulley is almost seized and belt is smoking. There's also alot of rubber on the floor... oh well, off with the belt, on with a batt charger to keep it at 13+v.
5th power run 209! STOKED!!!!, but im concerned its a bit lean. after all its long distance desert racer...
dial in some fuel, take out some advance and final run is 200.3hp. Perfect for a 2 day run through the desert!
so we'll be racing with 200rwhp (actually a tad less once we put the serpentine belt back on). Not bad considering its only got twin throttles, extractors and nothing sepecial done to it... gotta be happy with that!
will post up the graph in the next couple of days.
