Cat Gutted...No more phussy !! LOL

My Celsior has gone a little bit down on HP , makes a bit more exhaust noise [ not from a leak but like being stiffled type of thing ] and the economy has suffered a little bit as well .
So took the left hand cat off [ and yes it was mostly blocked ] with intentions to replace it between the flanges with a bit of pipe , decided to do it internally instead but didn't have the right diameter pipe on hand [ 65.4 mm OD ] so just gutted it completely and put it back .
What an improvement , far crisper and more power , went back in last night and replaced an upper flange stud that had sheared off and fitted a 65 OD piece of pipe internally inside the cat and tig'ed it in , a better improvement even from just the gutted cat !!
Can't wait to do the right hand side as well !! [ planed for thur night ]
A little bit more noise while accelerating [ just nice ] but just as quiet on a constant throttle , well pleased .

Cats while working provide negligible restrictions (especially when you have 2).
Cats while stuffed can provide a serious restriction.

Its something that in theory should be replaced every 100k km.

Makes you wonder how many people are driving around with absolutely stuffed cats robbing them of quite a bit HP and not aware of it as it happens over a long period of time ??

Its the same with o2 sensors.
They are also designed to be replaced every 80k-100k km.

So people with 200k km cars, original exhaust, and original o2 sensor, will be down on power, and down on economy.
