I have a m90 on a manifold i made myself using the lower half of the oem manifold in a hilux. my query is: is the by pass valve used to lower boost to the engine at low engine speeds or to limit the maximum amount of boost availiable to the engine? I was considering blanking it off altogether until I made my own pulleys, 1" larger than standard mounted off the front of the harmonic & 2 3/4" for the blower, now i'm not so sure? I am also cooling with water injection. obviously i am unsure what boost this will give me at this stage does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any advice.

The bypass valve allows air to recirculate when off boost.

This lowers inlet temps and reduces pumping losses.

It isn't designed to stop over boost. You will notice it has one air line running into it off the manifold after the supercharger. This only works one way, under vacuum.

With an M90 I wouldn't be worried about overboost. It will never happen.
