HEY GROUP, I'VE JUST JOINED AND HOPEFULLY I CAN FINALLY GET SOMEWHERE WITH MY CAR. I HAVE AN 96 SC400 AUTOMATIC W/ 92k IT RUNS PERFECT. I'VE HAD IT FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW, AND I WANNA DO SOME MODS TO IT. SUPERCHARGER OR TURBO, AIR INTAKE, EXHAUST, TOURQUE CONVERTER. THE CAR IS A DAILY DRIVER BUT I WANT IT TO BE AN ULTIMATE SLEEPER. I WOULD LIKE TO GET MY CAR AROUND 400 RWHP. IM FROM RHODE ISLAND AND IM WILLING TO BRINK MY CAR SOMEWHERE TO DO THE WORK. CAN ANYONE HELP? THANK YOU.

Wink,

Firstly welcome and please turn off your caps lock. Please use lower case.

400RWHP will call for turbo or supercharging.

Do a search around the Site there's heaps of information for you.

Thank Rod for the info, But seems like everywhere i look all upgrades seem to stop at 95 for an sc400. If someone out there has an 96+ sc400 with a turbo or supercharger let me know. Thanks.

Look into the website intellexual.net it gives info and direction into mods for your car. I also own an Sc400 sleeper with 400hp+ and it's fun......nos is the way I went...but now looking back I would have prefered to supercharge...

Hey thanks for the info. I am def gonna look into it. So anyways i made some phone calls to the "so called" performance shops in my area and all i can say is was a complete waste of time. One shop actually laughed at the idea of supercharging my SC400! I couldn't believe it. I'll keep ya posted on my progress.

It's very rare to see or here about a supercharged SC in the US, so the mechanic laughing at you is not a suprise. Just keep reading some of these threads on Supercharging and Turbo Charging and you will get an idea on what is involved. Good luck with what ever performance path you choose. The easy and cheap way to gain the power you want would be to install a 100hp nos system. These cars can handle nos well, it is safe and reliable. Should not cost you over a $1000 installed.

Well Jibby i finally found one shop that said that they'll look into it, but im not gonna hold my breath. I was looking around on Lextreme and found this * 1992-1996 SC400 Supercharged Kit Stage I (7 psi - Intercooled) (estimated time of availability 6/04) I'm willing to spend the ca$h, but as long its done right. But im sure i'd want around 10 psi. Is this a good idea since my car has 94k on it and runs mint. How many miles are on your car. What else besides nitrous have you done, if you dont mind me askin. Thanks...

Wink1100- My car is older one a 1992 SC400 but just about completely restored in and out. It now has 107,000 miles on it. Wow, mods ok just a few to mention:

Dragon Torque Converter
Rear exhaust change out piping and straight thru mufflers
High flow cat
Intake: injen snorkel, custom highflow inlet airflow, Rod Millen air filter, air inserts...
Electrical cables, wires, batt, etc....
ECU piggy back (apexi)
Walbro fuel pump
Electric fan/
Supra LSD torsen
Nos and plugs
Fat rears/Eibachs springs/tomiko shocks
Currently installing S&S headers and EGR block
Y section exhaust upgrade
Supra big brakes/rotors
Leather inside/re-painted same color
instrument cluster, etc...

the list goes on and on, those are the basic's for performance and looks...
I would consider Kelford cams if I can get this tranny upgrade under control...

The most important or most effective upgrades were with the torque converter and exhaust upgrades... Look into the Eaton superchargers, made in Australia but proven to perform well with the sc400 engine.. That would be my first choice in supercharging with the boost you want. I believe that Eaton comes with all the hardware needed to install for the most part. You may need larger fuel injectors, fuel pump, etc.... You can't just slap a supercharger on and say go baby go...A little more to it...not much more...
