4 barrell Carb!? NO ECU just MSD box?

Hey guys I had a guy from down under say you could ditch the complete ecu harness and so on and put a carb/intake manifold and run an MSD box to it that it would be minimal wiring wise? to use in a street rod locally.... I was wondering if anyones done this? It seems interesting.
