Right, I have recently purchased a very cheap LS400 and it's exhibiting all the signs of a bad ECU.

Stuttering at full throttle, cluster isn't showing speed or rpm. Throwing a 31 code for the TPS.

Thing is, the guy I bought it off had the ECU 'repaired' and when I had it looked at by an electronics guy who apparently repairs these ECUs he said one of the chips was missing a leg but the capacitors had been replaced.

Guy repairs the broken leg on the chip. I put the ECU back in and I'm still getting all the symptoms. Still getting the TPS code.

The TPS is good, I checked the resistance. Before I go in search of a new ECU does anyone have anything else for me to check? Can the cluster being fucked cause any of this?

Where can I find a manual or pinout for the 89661-50160 ecu? I'm struggling to get the toyota manual in PDF the one listed as xf10-20 89-97 is actually a 2000 with a 3UZ so does me no bloody good.

Also finally any one got any info on ECU interchangeablity? The 89661-50160 is UK only and only for 1993 making it annoyingly rare.

Thanks in advance.

I'm gonna keep updating this with my progress just incase anyone else has this issue. So I've found the pinouts avalible on this absolutely amazing forum. Today I'm gonna double check the wiring from the TPS to the ECU. Check for vacuum leaks anywhere in the rats nest.

Anyone know how to check the early type MAF the one with the frequency thing ?
