Porsche engines have had a Grafel coating on the skirts for years. The GM LS7 also has coated skirts. It allows the manufacture to run a slightly "looser" clearance and keep the cold piston slap to a minimum. Coatings also cut friction. It is done on most race engines.
It would be...
I think that block is a sprayed liner block. It has a aluminum sleeve with either an iron or Nikasil (maybe lokasil) coating on the cylinders. I see no reason with good tuning you can't make well over 600hp on those liners with forged pistons. No need for a block guard. The block guard will...
I have to ask, why you beleive the 10mm head stud can't handle the HP level you are shooting for? I know of many boosted engines making 200hp per cylinder that don't have a problem with a 10mm head stud.
Until someone maxes out the stock heads I don't see much reason for the Billet heads. The only application I can see for such an item is top fuel drag racing. Very heavily boosted engines could benefit, but it wouldn't make any difference until well over 2000hp.
That turbo is a prototype that should have never made it out of the manufacture, but it did and was sold by accident. Then the turbo broke and it was allover the web.
That said. SSAC and XSP turbos are Chinese copies of Garrett turbos. Some are good some are not. Many will not last more...
I have run into issues fully stressing an engine that wasn't designed for it. Increased wear in the camshafts and engine block. But this was a motorcycle engine, I hope this one works well for you.
Anybody have a G50 tranny case laying around. I need one for mock up purposes. Doesn't have to be complete. Can have a hole in the case as long as I can get length and axle height when I flip it over.
Thats what I figured. It is a more modern design. I am also looking at the Aisin gearbox for the 997. It is a cable shifted box from the factory and it lives behind an engine rated for 350ft-lbs.
You can easily hit 500 with twins on a stock engine. You absolutely must have good fuel management (which you have)and a good tune. Shouldn't be a problem.
What are you doing for an adapter plate and clutch. I am in the middle of this problem right now. I have a boxster tranny but it will...
Hydrodynamic bearings are not as ineffective as people make them out to be. In reality there is very little friction with either design. I can assure you the friction associated with oil bearings is marginal at full spool, compared to the inertia generated by the turbine and compressor wheels...
You need more bore. Nothing wrong with rpm, but it will cost you big money. Why do you think turbos can come out cheaper than an all out NA motor. They are much easier on the engine. A powerful NA engine will require lots of work. You will have to address the valvetrain, long block...
