I am about to change a water pump on a 93 LS 400. I have a tech article that also includes changing the timing belt. Does anyone know if the timing belt has to be changed at the same time? I was told it was changed before I purchased the car and only has about 10,000 miles on it. Please send any info that may help me in this.

The answer is NO. If the timing belt is good then you dont have to change it. However, used timing has their marks removed due to the bearing/pulley contacts. Best is put the engine in TDC and mark all three gears for reference.
