(More) Trouble with alternator wiring in hilux

My 2wd hilux is all going now apart from the alternator wiring. (and a couple of things that need tidying up)
The original alternator wiring come from the voltage regulator. Do I still need this?? I have the wiring diagram for my hilux and the 1uz alternator charging diagram. I think the regulator has to go. Does anybody know??

Here are some pics from my conversion

I turfed mine ext reg. Was easy to hook-up without, but cant remeber off the top of my head to give you wiring info. Can look and take photo's if you really want.

OK, thanks for your help everybody but i'm still having problems.

- So i've ditched the voltage regulator
- I've hooked up the main battery wiring ( that one is obvious )
- I've hooked up the battery discharge wiring light (yellow wire )

If i try and hook up the other 2 wires striaght to the positive for testing and idle drops really low the if you rev the engine the alternator belt slips.

I wired the whole computer with nearly 100 wires myself and now these 2 dam wires are defeating me.

This is the last thing to do on my car now, got the exhaust done today, sounds sweet. But it won't hold a charge.

Sorry to ask again but can somebody help!!!

PS here a pdf diagram

Hi CHe,
Ok, so from that drawing I attached in the prev post and your 1UZ alternator diagram, I'd do it this way
1. Tie S and IG together on alternator and connect to the hilux ignition
2. connect the L on alt to charge lamp on hilux
3. Connect B on alt to battery on Hilux through fusible link

Then I'd disconnect the battery to reset the ECU, and make sure that the acc belt is sufficiently tight. Measure the voltage on the battery with the engine off. Start the vehicle and let the 1UZ ecu set the ICV with the extra alternator load. Check the battery voltage to make sure it is charging.

Hope that helps,

Muzz

you should not tie s and ig together it wont hurtbut might drain power

in yr hilux reg wiring u should havea wite a red and a yellow/blue(or migt be just yellow)

join the white to the white (s) on 1uz alt
join red to black/yellow(ig) on 1uz alt
join yellow/blue to yellow(l) on 1uz alt

On the Hilux loom I have:

E: Black wire
N: Blue thick wire
F: Green wire

Where do I tie:

S:
IG:
L:

to?

I tried What Muzza did above, tie the S and IG together
and yes, It does drain power like sideshow says. A brand
new battery drained dead over a 2 week period.

fuk me drunk this job is goin to take u a fuking year

u need to bypass the voltge reg

those wires u have are the wrong ones cut them out nd u will hve 3 other wires left

u should have paid a pro to wire it up

i would hate to see how the wiring is when u have asked soo many bloody questions

do an auto elctrical course and learn how stuff works

when people tll u how to do things u never fuking learn

all you had to do is pay me 600 bucks and would have spent all day on the phone telling u what to do

specialised info is not free these days i do have a house to pay for

ive been watching too much of gordon ramsey

On ya Gordon, we love you realy.:grouphug:

Black to red blue to bits.....

Not hard.

White (S) - Constant 12v feed
Yellow Black (IG) - Hot while key in run pos.
Yellow (L) - Dash Light, one side of the light goes to alt and the other side should be hot with key in run.
