Hey Gang,

Just got this MKIII Supra Turbo 5 Speed Transmission code number is R154 from ebay. The final price for this beauty is $102.5 and the shipping to my transmission specialist shop is only $46 USD.

Here is the Ebay link: R154 5 Speed Transmission

The total price for this is less than $150. I think the R154 would be the perfect transmission for conversion. The Supra 6 speed would be great, but the price will kill more of us. The 6 speed is about $2,200. I have a 6 speed in my Cobra and i hardly with 6th. I really dont think there is a real use for 6th unless u plan to go over 180 mph.

Now i need to get the Rod Shop conversion kit and need help with tricking the stock ECU.

This tranny is going directly to my tranny specialist for refreshment.

I'm bringing a container across from the East Coast. If anyone wants to get a transmission, let me know and I can have my relatives look for one locally for you???

Good score man, that's a good choice from what I could figure just comparing ratios w/what the stock auto uses.
I agree with you about the 6th gear thing; how many over drive gears do you really need?

i know this may not interest u guys but economy maybe something to think about with 6th gear....

6 means u can put a extremely high diff gear in and still have a low RPM in 6th gear at cruising speeds..

A case point would be the t56 in the holden commodores....

the 6th gear has a ratio of 0.50 ... most people say this gear is only useful if u wish to drive to the moon... but it help with economy on highway driving

It actually wouldn't surprise me if a Toyota V8 got the same economy out of 5th or 6th gears anyway.

I changed my diff gears from 3.5:1 to 4.11:1 and my revs in 5th gear at 100k's went from about 1900 rev to 2450 or there abouts and there was no noticable difference in fuel economy in the 4 cam V8 - certainly woke the car up around town though. I really couldn't see the need for a 6th gear in mine.
Does anyone actually know the gear ratios in the 6 speed box? I wouldn't mind comparing the lower gears with the R154.

you can find the ratios on the sf.com or sf.com.au sites.

from what i remember though, 6th in the v160 is close to 5th in the r154.... the 6spd getrag (unlike the gm t56) actually has close ratios... makes for better acceleration... so you'll find that the 6th gear from the getrag v160 is actually useful... not recommended for people who hate shifting though as you'll be doing alot of that in normal daily driving.

i now have a v160 and an r154... still undecided about which one ill be using.
