Hey all,

In the future I'll be upgrading the ignition system and moving away from the dizzys. We're running a haltech E11v2 which only has 6 ign outputs so it has to be wasted spark.

Im looking at 3 different options and would welcome any comments:

Option 1 - Dual coils:
4 x dual coils $260
4 channel ignitor - $275
custom leads - $300 (approx)
Total $825
Advantage: Cost
Disadvange: long leads criss crossing engine, restricted to 5mm leads

Option 2 - Coil on plug:
BF Falcon coils - $305
2 x 4 channel igntors - $550
Total $855
Advantage: Cost, no leads
Disadvantage: reliability???

Option 3 - LS1 coils:
LS1 coils - $960
custom leads - $250 (approx)
total $1210
Advantage: Tidy Leads
Disadvantage: Cost, restricted to 5mm Leads

just in case anyones interested in this thread in the future (whooooo you're looooking intooo teh paaaaaast!!!) *hehe* With LS1 Coils with piggyback plugs available for under A$300 with built in ignitors Im probably going to go the LS1 coils option and have my current magnecor leads modified to suit.

Gary,

Why upgrade the ignition.

I was running stock ignition on 22.5psi and it was holding together well.

Save your money and go for the new trans as this will solve your torque problem as well.

Spending money on a short term torque fix will only delay the trans upgrade.

what about an ems 8860
they have 8 ignition outputs dont they
or go an autronic sm4 with ignition expander now yr talking

anyway 2 4 or 8 outputs doubt u will notice difference unless u want massive grunts hehehe

another option is what bout the coil on plug thread someone was going on about
run later model coils and u have no leads
save 300 bucks
