My '34 tudor has just made its way to the trimmers in Victoria (500ks) plus overnight ferry crossing from Tasmania
The rod ran faultlessly on the trip puring along at 2000rpm at 120 kph with a few problems before leaving.
(1) On start up it goes straight to idle, No high idle and back to norm after several minutes as it did when I first ran it 18 months ago. This is not a real problem at the moment
(2) The first trip around the block it wouldn't change out of 1st.
I have wired the ECt as per the drawings found on site.
The economy/power switchs were not connected due to lack of time and I was unsure about the speed input wires from the transmission.
After some quick checks and still in 1st I pulled the 2 plugs from the ECT and drove it manually.
Any ideas
The rod will be away for 3 weeks before I collect it so it will be theory till then
Can anyone supply the wiring for the speedo connection's please
regards
Steve

With the ECT not hooked up you get everything but 2nd gear or is it 3rd, You don`t get one of them any way.

The no high idle could be the spring in the switch/valvr thing on the intake, maybe its just stuck. Its one of the blcks round things. I can`t remember what its called but lol.

i can sell you the correct sensor which will go on your gbox

the signal goes up to the speedometer but i also run it to my ecu
instead of goin into speedo then out of speedo back to the ecu like new style speedometers

if its a crown they have 2 speed signals to the ecu
the main speed signal runs thru the abs ecu then to gbox ecu

if you dont run this the ecu spits out a code
but it doesnt cause other probs

the power econ switch does nothing in my opinion as the revs is so minutely diffent

the speed signal to engine and gbox ecu i just run from those speed sensors which i sell

then i have another device which i can control the speed input and u can slightly vary what revs it changes gears at works better than the power econ switch

Guts, thank you, I'll have a play with the throttle position sensor.
Quadcam, yes I built it myself over a 2 year period. Stainless Independant all round
Nissan 300zx diff centre and hubs and my control arms and obviously a Quadcam
Sideshow,
How do I go about purchasing one from you, please
I've put a lot of hours into wiring the ECT and I would like it to work, as I said the only thing I wasn't sure of was how the speed sensor was wired
Steve

well thertes 2 ways of doin it

the proper way is bit dearer
this involvces hookin up the main speed signal thru a divier box
then hookin up the back up speed sensor
this way u get no errors

the cheap way is to hook up the backup speed sensor and that sit

the price difference is 330 plus postage for proper

and 110 plus postage for just running the backup speed sensor

they both do the same thing just one will bring up an error and make the overdrive light come on
but if u have no overdrive light then its ok

Thanks Sideshow
Just to get my mind straight.
I currently have all fittings on the transmission and the wires up to the dash.
(I take it yours is a different sender)
As I'm not using the Crown dash the wires from the rear most drive terminate in large plugs going no where.
As there is no power into the speedo drive I guess there wont be any signal out (or doesn't it work that way
I'm using "Classic" instruments in the rod and its speedo drive has only 2 wires, it has a "drive through" to the toyota sender
"which is the back up sender?
Steve

what speedo r u runing
cable or electric

my device screws onto the speedo sensor on back of gbox(backup sensor)
its the sensor with small 10mm bolt holding it and has a speedo gear inside it
and also a small key
i remove the crown sensor and screw these on and this all needs 12v ign and earth and signal wire goes straight to ecu

and you can also screw a canble to this sensor so u can have cable and electric signal at same time

the other sensor is the abs sensor (main sensor) this signal needs to be converted then sent to the auto ecu
this is the snesor that has 12mm bolt holding it on
and is a magnetic type so no gear inside it

you can run either sonser for it to change gears

without one it will bring up codes
but still drive perfect

Thanks Sideshow
Thats all helpful info
My "Classic" speedo is electric so I can screw the crown sender off it and attach yours
I'm not worried about the error codes.
Can you give me some mailing details and we'll get underway or if you prefere my E mails is [email protected]
I won't get back to you until Friday as I'm in the field
Steve
