help identifing part

What is this part??

it looks like a vacuum switch which opens or closes(dont know which)when it gets to a certain temp and is used alot on emission cotrols.

Thank you, what is this parts purpose....what does it do, is it essential for vehical operation? do I need to replace it (the lower hose is not connected because it appears to be broken) and most of all what is the cost to replace?

follow the hoses one will be direct vacumn , the other too an actuator
a common part should be able too sorce quite easily of another toyota at a wrecking yard
