has anyone moved the alternator?

Im just wondering if anyone has moved the alternator to the opposite side of the motor. its awefully close to my steering box in my navara and if i could move it to where the aircon compressor was it would be sweet.

any advice is welcome.

oh man that sounds like exactly what im trying to do.. i also plan on running no options like ac/ pwr steering. can u get some pics of your setup to send me in the right direction?

Sam,

Search as a lot 'Lux owners have moved theirs and both Lextreme and Cobra run their alternators out the front of the engine running backwards.

There were quite a few photos on the Site that could still be here.

yeah but they probably cost an arm and a leg.. plus ive sorted the problem for now haha

what did you do? i ran my driveline on a slight angle.... cheaper!

just kept moving it till it missed my steering box. it should be fine.. means i dont have to notch the sump either haha

what car u putting the 1uz into? i notice your from brisbane too.

Ive got 1 in a patrol and 1 in a landcruiser

Some one on outerlimits4x4.com did this years ago to a Patrol.

Could be worth dropping in and doing a search over there.

I didnt need too, and kept the transfer case in the stock location, so I am happy with it.
