engine type

i have a 1uzfe that is going into my 280zx, on the plug leads it has 1999 so i was wondering how you can tell if it is vvt, i have tried the search function to no avail, the rear of the tranny has the big rubber cushion and it has the twin distributor set up. can someone tell me what it is out of,thanks chris

Your plug leads are 1999. It doesnt mean the engine is 1999. I have a 1990 1uzfe with 1990 plug leads. Now i change to a new set of plug leads and it has 2001 on it. Check the block number. Its located in the top front of the block. Or take some pictures.. we can tell from pics.

1UZ powered 260Z there are some photos under this heading in the conversion section and i will post the engine number this afternoon when i wake up [night shift] edit the engine number is 0299023 also down near where the air con compressor mount are two hoses that come off the front of the engine [hydraulic type] are thes for a fan drive and can they be removed. thanks for your help. chris
