EGR bypass or no bypass

I am getting ready to install S&S headers on my 98 GS4 and have heard both ways that I would need a bypass and that I wouldnt.Could someone please clarify?Thanks

The 98 GS400 does not have an EGR valve. EGR function is done with the VVTi cam timing. The headers are a direct factory replacement for the manifolds. No provisions are made for the heat shields as the Jet Hot coating is sufficient. Other than the heat shields it is a plug-and-play situation.
