Hey All - DQ time again.

1. Inside the tb there are 2 butterflies. In the direction of flow the first appears to be open by default. Is this for traction control or cruise control or something? Im going to pull it and weld up the holes. Anyone see any probs with this?

2. the TPS for both the tb butterfly and the extra??? butterfly appear the same. Anyone know if they are? I'd like to keep the other one on as a spare is all!

Cheers!

yeah, the front or first butterfly from the inlet is for traction control and you shouldn't have anyproblems removing it.

as for the TPS's, I think that they are the same, but not sure. there should be stickers on them with the OEM Toyota/Lexus part numbers, if they are the same number, then they are the same. If the stickers are gone, then just call the dealer and have them look them up see if they are the same number.

Also, if they are not the same number, they might still be interchangable. You would just have to check fitment and operation.

Cheers CJSupra - thought as much.

why you'd want to remove the traction control when there's a OFF button in the car?
hehe... cause there's not going to be an off button in this car... so I might as well remove it!

Yes, possible to remove, I did it on my 2nd TB.
Don't expect any benefit from removing it, except maybe asthetics and weight loss.

Are the TPS's the same? Not sure.
The definately have different part numbers, but I'm not sure if they internally the same.

They are different. They have different plugs to stop them being connected up wrong.
I would think the internals are the same.

tps maybe has no idle switch like throttle one has, I have jus fin taking out the spare trc bits in my current project just to make it neater

i think the TCS works off some kind of sensor on the car(not really sure), so you shouldnt have to remove the TCS throttle body.

since the 2nd TB is closed to open, and the 1st is opened to close, the internals must be inversed.

rivmasta, with that weight it might make a good drag car as well, just slap some slicks on it after you hit the dunes, ha. let us know how this one turns out.

Not necessarily.
Depends how the ecu is configured to deal with it.

Cheers all,

I'll pull it out just to make the job a bit neater. Sounds like the whole tp switch is in the too hard basket. We're probably going to go Peewee's route to dual tb's so we'll have a spare tps mounted on the car at all times anyway.

Thanks again, all comments appreciated!
