So I'm trying to decide what clutch/flywheel to run with this 1uz/R154 combo going into an Mk3 Supra. I want something decently light. The car will be mostly a drift/road race car with some street time. There is no emphasis on streetability, I just don't want something that will burn up too quickly on the street.

Right now what I'm considering is a quartermaster's 7.25" twin disk setup using the stock flexplate and using rally disks. This will be nice and light, but could it be too light?

Another option would be having Comp Clutch put something together for me. I talked to them the other day and they said that they could do it. I sent them some ideas and examples of other products and they are looking into it a little more. So I don't have any specifics yet. But one of the benefits of this would be that there would be a flywheel/clutch packages easily available in the states if this works out. Which would be nice and I will carry them with the rest of the adapter plates and other parts needed for this swap.

The last option would be picking up a flywheel from an Aus/NZ company and getting a clutch to work with it. But I would rather have a company in the US making a lighter flywheel and having different clutch options available.

Cost for all these would probably end up being close give or take a couple hundred, so I'm not really worried about that. I would like to not have to spend too much more than $1k, but I also want something that will work for what I need it to. So if I got the quartermaster setup and then clutch kicked it to death at one drift event, I wouldn't be too happy. Or if I figured out a setup using Comp stuff and it was heavy and not as responsive as I would like, then that would suck as well.

So I'm looking for opinion/ideas/thoughts/whatever you guys have on any of these ideas or other ideas that I haven't thought of.

The adapter plate that I had a friend made and will be producing after everything is tested uses the 1uz bellhousing so I will be going with a hydraulic throw out bearing. Any opinions on these? I like the Tilton and quartermaster ones that mount to the trans/adapter plate depsite the additional cost, but I don't know if there's enough room in there for it. I've seen a couple people using the floating hydraulic throw out bearings. Is anyone using anything else for this?

So let me know what you guys think.

Tim

I have bought dellow bell housing conversion kit for 1uz to r-154 they gave me no specs for flywheel and pressure/clutch plate.

Now that i have them they are only suited for daily driving on road with standard motor.

Flywheel weight 9 kg
Pressure plate 6 kg From a ford with @ 2200lbs clamp force but very poor casting no good for high rpm
Clutch plate is bottom of the line PBR

Waste of money for any track or performance

Maybe someone can put a performance orintated kit together
