Found an aftermarket source for metal substrate catalytic converters and they are AFFORDABLE

For those unaware, catalysts are made with either a ceramic core or a metal core. The ceramic core parts are most plentiful, cheap, fragile and need to be very large to flow OK.
Metal Substrate catalysts (the kind my 1999 LS400 has OEM) are strong and flow very well and are compact... also VERY expensive...
Below is a picture of the core in one of the cats for my year engine, notice the spiral of a thin metal core that you can see through.
