GREAT News...

Found an aftermarket source for metal substrate catalytic converters and they are AFFORDABLE :D :D :D

For those unaware, catalysts are made with either a ceramic core or a metal core. The ceramic core parts are most plentiful, cheap, fragile and need to be very large to flow OK.

Metal Substrate catalysts (the kind my 1999 LS400 has OEM) are strong and flow very well and are compact... also VERY expensive...

Below is a picture of the core in one of the cats for my year engine, notice the spiral of a thin metal core that you can see through.

Here is a link to a company that sells this type of cat for only $150 and is available in 2.25, 2.50 and 3.00" I/O.

lets say you have a 2.25" system from the cats back, should you get a 2.25" cat, or a 2.5" cat. Im saying this cuz one day i hope to build myself a pair of headers.

Thanks,
Nick
