I once read pumping the air out of the sump improved sealing of the rings and increased power generated.

I would think this would be great on a FI engine.

Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on the system.

I've heard of an air pump (polution devices) being used to do the pumping.

A couple of my mates have done this using the vacum pump off a TOYOTA 18RC engine, can tell you these pumps don't like oil getting into them, so a lot of effort has to go into separating the oil from the crankcase fumes, can't tell you any proven horsepower increases from using one of these pumps.

Rod I guess this would cost a few bucks, and if you spent a bit more you could have a full dry sump set up which would give you good oil flow at high g points, and also further gains as the crank wouldn't have any windage losses splashing through the sump.

I would love a dry sump set up (and would help with engine location clearances) and would be grateful to any members who have done this to post details of the crank scraper and sump set up.

Cheers
Mark
