3750 4000 rpm limit

1992sc400 with 40 40 40 pin ecu
I have put it all into a Hilux
I had a few dramas with knock sensors
Firstly new dead sensors then wrongly boxed sensors
But finally sorted
I now have a 3750 rpm rev limit
It will rev out properly sitting still
It has a manual gearbox behind the motor
If I keep it under 3500 rpm it drives fine does not matter which gear I am in
If I disconnect the vss wire it will rev out in all gears but the check light comes on
No codes with vss connected
Any clues?

who cares about the check engine light in a conversion
where have u hooked the vss signal to
it might be the wrong amount of pulses

I have hooked it pin 2 in the smaller e9 connector - spd speed sensor 1

it might be the wrong amount of pulses

if it was the number of pulses from the vss, why does it do it in every gear regardless of speed but directly relational to rpm?

I mean the spd wire from ecu
where have u hooked it up in the car

if u wire the neutral start wires wrong to the ecu
it will have a 4 grand rev limit on some Toyotas
had this afew times on early 1js and 1uzs

could also be air flow meter or wrong igniters

fkt if I know what it has to do with speed signal wire

maybe just coincidence
also have u looked inside your ecu

nearly every soarer ecu I get these days if fkt due to popped capacitors
I fking hate soarer shit
I have two soarer jobs here and the looms are fking broken badly
and the ecus had capacitor problems
no wonder I love ls1 engines these days
much easier to work with

Jim, AFM issues will limit RPM to 2500
so I would suspect speed sensor or igniters

Jim - I have wired it to the back of the speedo head

I have not done anything with the neutral start wiring
It has a manual behind it and I have wired the starter straight to the starter relay in the factory fuse box

Are you suggesting that I need to put 1 of the shift solenoids to earth?
I seem to remember reading somewhere that it was not required
It is behaving like I am revving it in park, I assume, as it will free rev while sitting still but misbehave as soon as the ute moves off

I personally removed all the wiring and from 1 car that was running fine

I have looked inside the ecu and even though the caps looked fine I have replaced them as a precaution and also have tried another Ecu from another soarer that was running well just to rule that out

Just a thought?
Pins 9&10 on the small connector
If I ground pin 10 I would have first
If I ground both - second
If I ground pin 9 - third
Am I close?
