Hey guys, seems like this forum might be better for finding and exchanging technical information about drivetrain components than ClubLexus.... lol

I have already purchased a timing belt and water pump kit for my 1UZFE-VVTI engine, as well as a new timing belt tensioner. I will be installing everything myself. I have an AllData service procedure printed out to overview the process for me.

My question is:

What are some specific tips and tricks that will make this easier? Its rated at 4.6 hours of labor, and realistically cant be more complicated than making sure to alight the crankshaft pulley at 50*ATDC.

Hey bjohn,

I am getting ready to do mine as well and have the same Q's. I have done several t-belts on 1991-1997 MY's and its much more forgiving due to the engine being non interference. Im curious to know if there are any special timing tools to lock the cams or crank in place? Im a bit nervous about the cams shifting with the belt removed causing a grenaded engine.
