A screen isn't necessarily a filter. What if you broke or lost it, they'd still have a part number for a filter if there was one.

If the engine stays on while you give it gas, but then when you let off it idles low and then dies, try to adjust your TPS, and if it's busted then you'd need to replace it. I had a similar problem on a 91 LS400 once.

I called Lexus Parts, and they told me there isn't a transmission filter. I then transferred to Service, and they verified it.

I thought i'd add to this post even though it is old for the sake of people who use the search feature. The SC400 transmission does not use a filter. I thought it was odd, but they seem to perform well without one.

Sometimes when you don't get a good response on the forums, its best to just ask a local mechanic. I'm not a certified mechanic, so all i can do is guess. But it seems like something a mech could diagnose pretty easily.

It sounds like your battery is worn out, and your car is trying to idle higher to charge the battery for you. Check how old your battery is, and if it's due, replace it.

Take a 1992 SC400 with 200,000 miles. Original tranny fluid. What can i do to help the rough shifting. I think i read once that if you do a pan drop on transmission oil that is that old, it can destroy the transmission. Can someone please give me advice on what to do to save this transmission?

I took the thing apart. I know the back light bulbs are out, and i can see for a surity that 2 of the 3 bulbs behind the lcd are out. my lcd is fine. just the backlight bulbs.
