Well, I'm lining up all my ducks to get started on this.
The truck will be in the garage for a teardown likely next week some time.
Plans are:
SAS (haven't decided between FJ80 axles or just a Toy/Hilux front just yet)
R150 v6 transmission
1uz from an SC400 (pretty much have access to anything/everything off the car)
37's & 4.10's... This truck will see light trail use, but mostly DDing.
Here's the dilemma/question I have:
Given that I have all the time in the world right now, and access to any part off the donor car, and I'm using a 1st gen Tacoma dash setup... Could I not just use the complete-ish SC400 harness and connect what needs to be connected?
My thought process is, instead of hacking the SC harness up, I could just use the entire harness and fuse box, cut out the unnecessary stuff, and use the SC climate control etc. and just wire my lights and other stuff up as necessary?
Given that I'm using a dash that doesn't belong with the truck or motor, it all needs to be custom anyways... And since the ECU is from the 1uz, this seems a simpler alternative to splicing the 1uz into the chassis.
Maybe I'm over or underthinking it... I haven't found much by searching.
